London based singer/songwriter Amethyst should certainly be on your radar, if you are a fan of Cleo Sol, Sasha Keable, Snoh Aalegra or Alex Isley. Having already established herself through her debut EP “Get Comfortable” , Amethyst has certainly garnered a lot of attention over the past few months. Her latest feature "Patience" has received support from Jamie Cullum at Radio 2, been playlisted by Jazz FM, and has had great success at other radio stations such as 1 XTRA and Reprezent. She has also received previous support from Victoria Jane at Radio 1 and Jamz Supernova and Radio 1Xtra, as well as backing from COLORS, Tidal, Dummy Mag and Crack Magazine.

 

With influences that spread from Ella Fitzgerald, Donny Hathaway and Gregory Porter to Beyoncé, Lianne La Havas, Jazmine Sullivan, and Cleo Sol, Amethyst’s sound encompases modern R&B production, old school soul instrumentation all tied together with a luscious and soothing soulful jazz vocal.

 

Amethyst was lucky enough to have the opportunity to be mentored by Joy Crookes through winning a female artist programme with Hypertribe and has received backing from the MOBO Help Musicians funding. With two previously sold out headline shows at The Grace and Paper Dress Vintage as well as a support slot for artist Charles at The Courtyard Theatre and other performances at Ronnie Scott's The Ned, The Seabright Arms, Kindred and multiple Sofar Sounds we can certainly expect a lot from this young rising star. Amethyst’s beautiful vocals combined with her unique sound and distinctive look certainly makes her one to watch.
